Flightscope Mevo+I don’t say this without careful consideration.  Right now, the best device you can get to help improve your golf game is the Flightscope Mevo+ launch monitor.

Granted, there are numerous devices that can help improve your game.

These range from gadgets to help improve your golf swing plane to gadgets to help improve your putting.

There are also numerous launch monitors ranging in price from a couple hundred bucks to over $15,000.

The Flightscope Mevo+ is not cheap, but it is also nowhere near the most expensive launch monitor out there.

With that said, it offers features near the top end of the price range, and gives you the ability to maintain some serious data regarding your ball striking.

The Flightscope Mevo+ App

The main reason why the Flightscope Mevo+ is the best device to help improve your golf game is the app that comes with the device.

The app provides you with professional level data as if you are going in for a custom club fitting.

Some of the data it provides includes:

  • Club speed
  • Ball speed
  • Club path
  • Clubface angle
  • Angle of attack
  • Spin rate
  • Smash factor
  • Carry distance

best golf launch monitorThese are just a few and are fairly common among launch monitors.

However, what separates the Mevo+ is the other features of the app.

For instance, if you want to make a side by side comparison between two drivers, it will provide you with all the data you need, including dispersion factors for both clubs.

Unlike virtually all of the launch monitors in its price range and below, it will also provide you with clubface detection technology, although have to pay a little extra for that.

In other words, it will show you were on the clubface you hit the ball with each shot.  That’s pretty damn cool.

The Mevo+ also comes with a multi-camera app so that you can see your swing from different angles for each shot.

This app also provides you with a shot tracker that can be viewed with each swing.

So, if you set up a camera with the down the line angle, you can watch your swing and see your ball flight at the same time.

The most insane feature of the Mevo+

The one feature that really blew my mind was the round planner.

If you are playing a round of golf at a particular golf course within the next three days, the app will upload what the weather conditions are forecast to be (temperature, wind, humidity) along with the altitude of the golf course.

It will then provide you with a plan on what club to hit from various distances based on your existing shot data in the app.

Also, it will recommend clubs based on your typical miss under certain conditions to help minimize scoring damage.

For instance, if there is OB right and you tend to hit a slice with your driver, and the wind is blowing left to right, it may suggest hitting a different club.

That’s just wild stuff.

Take it to the range or use it at home

The beauty of the Mevo+ when compared to other devices at its price point and below is that you can use it just for practice at the driving range, or for a full blown golf simulator at home.

Twelve golf courses are included in the basic E6 simulator package that comes with the device, including Pebble Beach, St. Andrews and Bethpage Black.

You can connect it to your phone, your tablet, your watch and your computer.

And recently, Flightscope came out with its own I4 rangefinder that also pairs with your data.  It effectively can act as a caddie while you are on the golf course as it offers club recommendations based on your data in the app.

The bottom line

The bottom line is this… if you are a serious golfer, the Mevo+ is a game changing device.

No other launch monitor that costs under $10,000 will provide you with so many features that can literally improve your scores dramatically.
