Anyone who knows me knows that I am happiest near the water, and preferably the ocean.

However, over time I’ve become a bit of a beach snob, so I will not just go to any beach on my own.

Sure, I will meet people at a beach that I don’t particularly like, and I will usually swim.

With that said, I have certain criteria that need to be met…

  • Clear water
  • Peaceful
  • Nice views

I generally don’t like crowded beaches and I prefer to be able see my feet when standing in waist deep water or deeper.

While I can’t say I’ve been to as many beaches as I’d like, I’ve been to a few spectacular ones over the years.

The one that still stands out as being the nicest beach I’ve ever visited is…

Elbow Beach in Bermuda.

The beach is located on the south side of the island, about a 10 to 15 minute drive from Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda.

The last time I visited this beach was in 2018 and I stayed at the Cocoa Reefs hotel.

I’ll never forget after we checked in and we were led to our room in a separate building and we got this view below.

Elbow Beach Bermuda

What I love about most beaches in Bermuda is that they are not crowded at all.

This is certainly the case with Elbow Beach, as there are only a couple hotels located there.

As you can see, the water is very clear, and this beach has wonderful, soft pink sand.

One cool feature of the beach in front of Cocoa Reef are the man-made reefs.

When you swim out them, you will find some spectacular fish, including Parrot Fish.  When you go under water, you can hear them gnawing on the coral with their big teeth!

The beach is about 1/2 mile long, and at the west end is a small cliff overlooking the beach.  It makes for a wonderful place to stroll in the evening.

My favorite time of year to visit Bermuda for a beach vacation is early August, before hurricane season gets fully underway.

The water is very warm at that time of year, but keep in mind, the humidity at that time is very high as well.

So there you have it, my favorite beach in the world, so far.

Would love to learn what yours may be, so let me know in the comments!
