Attention Men Over 50…

…regain your health and strength with Optimal Fitness 50!

Gentlemen over 50,

If you’ve arrived at this page on the internet, you are looking for a solution that will help you do one or more of the following…

  • Get most of your lost strength back
  • Build muscle
  • Lose weight
  • Improve your cardiovascular fitness
  • Get control of your health

Unfortunately, there is a ton of garbage information thrown at men our age and older…

“Don’t lift heavy weight.” “Don’t do cardio.” “Don’t eat carbs.”  “Don’t eat red meat.”  etc. etc.

I’m here to cut through the nonsense.

I’ve put together THE most complete fitness program you can find anywhere, and it is geared specifically toward men over 50.

(Before you read further, please note, you will need access to a full gym or appropriate equipment at home.  Also, before starting any fitness program, be sure to check with your primary care physician).

Who am I and why listen to me?

Hi, I’m Scott,

That’s me with my beautiful second wife.  Between the two of us, we have six adult children.

As I write this in summer 2025, I am 59 years old.

I am not a doctor, personal trainer or physical therapist.

I also don’t spend four hours per day in the gym.  Who has time for that?

For virtually all of my adult professional life I have paid my bills as a commercial real estate appraiser.

My athletic background consists of competitive swimming through high school, Division I collegiate golfer, former skiing enthusiast, and 1st degree blackbelt in the art of Pai Lum kung fu.

Nothing special… I am a lot like many of you reading this.

As recently as 2020, I was a bit overweight and unhealthy.

In early 2020, we purchased a house and I thought it would be a good idea to get some life insurance.

At the time, I was 12 years removed from my kung fu training and ten years removed from doing any serious fitness training.

I weighed about 210 pounds (I am 6 feet tall) and virtually all of my excess weight was around my belly.

The life insurance process required that I have some blood work done.  The results weren’t horrible, but they clearly indicated I was on the wrong path.

Fat Me in 2017

My triglyceride levels were high, my LDL cholesterol was high, and my blood sugar was high.

Shortly after we moved into our small house here in Maryland, I bought some home gym equipment to go into the garage… a luxury I hadn’t had since moving to Maryland.

I always preferred to work out at home, and I had not had a power rack and barbells since 2010.

I was lucky in that I bought the equipment just before the Covid pandemic hit, so I didn’t pay a fortune for the equipment.

Anyhow, after the power rack arrived, I put it together, and thought I would throw the barbell in the rack and pump out some reps on the bench press.

I put the two big plates on the bar (45 pounders) to get the total weight to 135 pounds, my old warm up weight, and I managed four measly reps.

I was shocked at how weak I was, because while I hadn’t lifted in years, I at least was doing some P90X now and then and doing some pushups and pullups.

Long story short…

  • Over the next few years I did a good bit of research
  • I started to actually train rather than just exercise (yes, there is a difference)
  • I focused significant attention on diet
  • and I ultimately lost 25 pounds while getting my deadlift up to 355 pounds at age 58 (not earth shattering by any means, but well above average for my age group)

Fat me in 2017/2023 Me

You can see the results of my training.

I don’t consider myself to be special at all.

However, I found that it can be quite difficult for most people to get an understanding of where the hell they should start with their training and diet and how to make adjustments over time as they progress.

There is just way too much information out there… some good, some bad.

Furthermore, many people are too dogmatic in their approach to fitness.

The bottom line is that most people just want some good guidance to help them achieve their own fitness goals.

Deadlifting in my garage

This isn’t one of those fitness programs that you follow for 60 or 90 days to get your beach body back.

There are no crazy diets to follow, and no fasting involved.

This is a blueprint for better health so you can live a high quality of life, even into your advanced years.

Based upon your own fitness goals, you’ll know exactly what to do at any point in your training.

For example…

Let’s say you decide to focus primarily on building significant strength.

By training a certain way, and following certain dietary guidelines, you can build up considerable strength over the span of about six months.

However, once you get to that point, you’ll find it more difficult to make progress, and you will need to make adjustments to your training.

This program helps you do that and provides further references for even more advanced training.

Or perhaps you will want to focus more on building a body like legendary bodybuilder Frank Zane.  You’ll learn how to do that as well.

In other words, this program isn’t singularly focused.

It is all about providing you with knowledge and programs to follow as your training goals and needs change.

And no matter what path you decide to follow, you will become healthier and have a higher quality of life.

Let’s dive into the details.

Optimal Strength and Muscle

Pressing in my garage

Strength training is the foundation of the Optimal Fitness 50.

Building muscle and strength is critical to changing your body composition through improved metabolic function.

It is also critical to helping you live a much higher quality of life as you head into your advancing years.

The Optimal Strength and Muscle portion of the blueprint provides you with a variety of different training protocols.

These include pure strength training, bodybuilding, and a hybrid approach that is more reflective of how warriors train.

If you are new to training, you will learn how to perform the basic compound lifts such as the squat, deadlift, bench press and overhead press.

These lifts form the foundation of the strength training programs presented, and you will also learn some substitute lifts as well.

If you are a beginner, you’ll be provided with a protocol for getting started, and then you will learn other programs to pursue as you advance with your training.

The benefits of training for strength and muscle include…

  • Increased metabolism
  • Improved strength (duh)
  • Improved mobility
  • Increased bone density
  • Improved cardiovascular health
  • You’ll look and feel better
  • Improved confidence (you’ll turn heads and get compliments as your physical appearance improves, trust me on that!)

Optimal Diet and Nutrition

How much protein to build muscleTo achieve your fitness potential, you WILL need to make changes to your diet.  There is just no getting around that.

As they say… “you can’t outrun a bad diet.”

I’m a perfect example of that.

I mentioned that even though I didn’t have a home gym for ten years, I certainly wasn’t a sloth.

I worked out fairly regularly although I didn’t stick to a specific training routine.

I would do some of the P90X routines, jog, and even do some Insanity workouts.

However, my weight just continued to climb higher because I didn’t make the adjustments to my diet.

The Optimal Fitness Blueprint will tell you exactly how to eat to meet your training goals.

This includes identifying how much protein, carbs and fat you should be consuming, and how to calculate the amount of calories you should be consuming if you want to lose body fat.

Optimal Cardiovascular Fitness

Exercise medicine

Cardio exercise is not just about burning calories.

There is a methodology for doing cardio training to achieve these goals…

  • Improve metabolic function
  • Lose body fat
  • Improve cardiovascular fitness

Many people simply try to get in their 10,000 steps, or go for a jog to achieve their weight loss/maintenance goals.

Don’t be wrong, that’s great.

However, that’s not training.

To achieve your optimal cardiovascular fitness, you need to train properly to get the most benefit out of these activities.

Optimal Fitness 50 will show you exactly how to go about your cardio exercise, no matter whether you are a beginner or you’ve done this type of exercise before.

Optimal Mobility

As we get older, even if we exercise regularly, our muscles tighten and our joints stiffen.

That’s due to a combination of aging and too much time sitting on our butts at work, in front of the TV or at the bar.

Strength training, walking and cardio exercise will go a long way toward improving your mobility.

However, to achieve your optimal mobility to make yourself more durable, you’ll want to include mobility focused training in your routine.

Optimal Fitness 50 provides you with a full stretching routine and other mobility work to help you in this critical area of your fitness.

Your Investment

Before I reveal the cost of Optimal Fitness 50, let me reiterate everything you get…

A complete body of knowledge to help you…

  • Build significant strength
  • Build significant muscle
  • Lose body fat
  • Improve your body composition
  • Improve your cardiovascular fitness
  • Improve your overall health

The program is presented through a mix of pdf files and video content.

The primary benefit of the training is that you will have the opportunity to significantly improve your overall quality of life.

Now, with all that said, consider the cost of employing the services of a personal trainer at your gym, or an online fitness coach.

Also consider that none of them will provide you with all of this knowledge… they are basically just going to tell you what to do.

Online services will typically cost you at least $200 per month, while in person trainers will cost you at least $50 per hour.

With all that in mind, your investment in Optimal Fitness 50 is only $297.

Furthermore, you’ll receive three months of email support.
