I’m 57 today!

I think it’s time for a bit of a change.

For years, I’ve been one of those people who is kinda perpetually pissed off by circumstances and events well beyond my control.

This has led to a life somewhat unfulfilled and one that has fallen short of its potential.

No more.

Over the weekend I witnessed two people get married who are clearly happy and living what is probably close to their best life.

My college roommate married is long time sweetheart, and the smile never left his face throughout the entire ceremony and reception.  It was great to see.

Over the weekend, I also seemed to have made a breakthrough with my own beautiful wife of eleven years.   I believe we had one of the best conversations of our marriage over the weekend.

At times, we have a contentious relationship due to being polar opposites on the political spectrum.  Whenever politically charged topics come up, we often get in a heated argument.

That seems to be where most of the anger comes from these days.  The powers that be seem to be determined to keep us all pissed off all the time with the negative headlines.

I’ve been a bit envious of people who are able to compartmentalize that crap and move on with their lives.

My friends who were married over the weekend seem to fall into that category.

Yes, there are issues that concern them.  But, that doesn’t stop them from having a good life.  Their happiness is quite apparent.

My wife and I now share a connection with my friend and his new bride in that we will share the same anniversary.

With that in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to get moving in a new direction.  Life is too damn short.

I’ve lost enough friends to a variety of illnesses in the last few years to finally understand that it just makes no damn sense to dwell on all the BS that is beyond my control.

Therefore, the direction of this blog is changing once again.

The main theme going forward is Quality of Life.

A better quality of life can come from a variety of sources.

For me personally, focus on my own fitness has helped me immensely over the last several years.

Working toward financial independence is another goal of mine, and will be a focus of this blog.

Lastly, I’ll be focusing on FUN!

Fun comes in different forms for all of us, but I think many will agree that travel is a great way to take us away from the mundane and recharge our batteries.

I hope you’ll join me in this pursuit of a better life by continuing to check out this blog.
