Today’s articles cover Biden’s nominee for Attorney General, Merrick Garland, FL Governor Ron DeSantis, immigration, taxes and Fed Chairman Powell.

DeSantis continues to be a bright light among US governors.  The rest of this news is somewhat depressing.

I’ll go out on a limb now and say I believe the Biden administration will be among the most inept ever.  The media will do its best to cover up this ineptitude, but the effects will begin to be felt next year after a quick economic boomlet this summer.

Merrick Garland – It’s not domestic terrorism if it occurs at night

This was Biden’s AG pick, Merrick Garland’s testimony during his confirmation hearing yesterday.  The question was in reference to attacks on Portland’s federal courthouse last summer.

Yup, that was his response… it’s only domestic terrorism if attacks on federal buildings occur during the day.

I wrote yesterday that Garland will be a disastrous Attorney General.  He’s clearly a left wing lunatic, possibly worse than Eric Holder, who views white supremacy as the primary threat to America.

DeSantis and the media

Right now, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, assuming Donald Trump doesn’t run (and he shouldn’t) is the frontrunner for the 2024 nomination for POTUS.

He has handled the Covid-19 pandemic beautifully, keeping Florida open for business while Cuomo and Newsom have locked down New York and California.

As a result, DeSantis faced constant criticism from the media… they clearly view him as a serious threat if he is indeed the nominee in 2024.

This is how the media rolls these days… nothing but advocacy, and if you are not on their side, you are a target.

Just think about it though… if DeSantis is indeed the nominee, and he is still popular in Florida, that takes Florida off the table completely for the Democrats, and likely takes Georgia away from them as well.  DeSantis would have a great message to use in places like PA as well, where Governor Wolf is becoming less popular by the day.

Let’s hope Governor DeSantis keeps up the good work.

Immigration crisis incoming

I think I mentioned this in the last couple days.  Biden wants to offer amnesty to at least 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.  As a result, there is now a scramble for immigrants who are not here now to try and get into the country.

This is going to result in a huge problem going forward and is just one policy issue that will have a negative impact on the economy.

Higher corporate tax rates favored by Yellen

We knew this would be coming.  And while some major U.S. corporations pay too little in income taxes, whenever the Democrats hike them, it is smaller businesses that take the hit.

Trump lowered corporate tax rates because the previous higher rates made U.S. corporations less competitive.  He also wanted to spur more job growth hear in America.

It largely worked.  Job creation with better paying jobs was the result of this policy until Covid hit.  The unemployment rate hit historical lows in 2019, and median household incomes were moving significantly higher compared to the previous eight years under Obama.

All of that will come to an end.

Higher taxes will be a necessity to pay off the massive amount of debt being accumulated, and Trump and the Republicans did have a hand in that.

That is why this massive stimulus bill Biden wants passed will cause a massive hangover.

Anyhow, here are Yellen’s thoughts on corporate taxes and capital gains tax rates

Fed Chairman Powell – High Inflation Unlikely (yeah right)

The signs are all around.  Massive surges in commodity prices, yet this clown says inflation is unlikely.
